Program Name: D.A.R.E.; G.R.E.A.T.;
Smart Choices;School Resource Officer Program

Program Description: D.A.R.E. and G.R.E.A.T
are being presented in the Hot Springs Middle School
by Corp. Flint. The Smart Choices program which was developed
by the
Arkansas Attorney
General's Office is taught in Hot Springs Middle School by
Corp. Flint.
We also have four (4) School Resource Officers. Two officers
are stationed at
Lakeside School District; one at the High School and the
other at the Middle
School. However, both these officers are
on the same
campus. Two officers are
stationed at the Hot Springs High School; one at
the High School and the
other at the Middle School. These two
officers are
located on different
campuses.

How is your program requested?
These programs are requested by telephone,
letter or in person. Most
programs are permanent
with permanently assigned personnel that have
developed a personal relationship
with the school administrators, teachers
and students.
How/when is your program offered?
When the high school and
middle schools are in session, the
D.A.R.E.;
G.R.E.A.T.; and Better
Choices are coordinated with the Hot Springs Middle
School principal and
classroom teachers. Special programs
such as K-9
Demo or K-9 Search and
the McGruff program are by telephone or letter
request. The School
Resource Officer Program places officers in the
schools while the school
is in session. Other activities such as
sporting
activities where the
officers are needed are based on the school's ability to
cover the overtime costs
to the officers.

Program Name: C.H.O.I.C.E.S.; Safety
Program; Law Education Program

Program Description: CHOICES (Courage Honesty
Optimism Integrity Choices Equal Success). For
Faulkner County 3rd-6th
grade students. This is a 4 part program. Topics
include but are not
limited to: self-esteem, laws, rules,
consequences,
problem solving, peer
pressure, and help in making good choices in their
lives. Students have a
great deal of interaction with the deputy due to the
open discussion format
of the classroom.
Safety Program: This program is for Kindergarten, 1st, and
2nd grade
students. It focuses on
teaching the importance and use of 9-1-1 and,
stranger awareness.
Law Education Program:
This program is presented to upper middle and high
school students in
Faulkner County. It's focus is on constitutional law.
