Program Description: Officers are assigned to
all the elementary, middle, and high schools in
Arlington County. The
officers are responsible for all calls for service,
investigations, and
crime prevention activities at school.
The officers also
provide security for
school events and provide instruction on issues such as
drug abuse, gangs, bullying, juvenile laws,
and other issues that arise.
Officers also ensure the
safe arrival.

Program Name: Youth Services

Program Description: Each of our high schools
and middle schools in the city of Chesapeake, VA
has a Detective assigned
to the school on a daily basis. I am
currently
assigned to Indian River
High School which includes the grades 9 thru 12.
We handle any crime
throughout the day that occurs at school.
We are also
assigned reports that
happen in the community that may involve one of our
students either as a
victim or as a suspect. We do use the Class Action
program offered by the
Attorney General's Office of Virginia.

INFORMATION
Program Name: Success Through
Education and Proactive Policing (STEPP)

Program Description: STEPP is a
comprehensive, holistic approach toward educating and
protecting youths
attending public schools in Chesterfield County. Matters
concerning respect,
personal safety, conflict resolution, responsible
behavior and drug
prevention are all covered in the STEPP program. Each
STEPP lesson helps
students reach different Standard of Learning (SOL)
requirements.

There are 32 different
mandated lessons, which have curriculums that are

starting the beginning
of September and ending the end of June.

different lessons kindergarten through 5th grade.
Lessons are taught using
lecture, books, role play, handout sheets,
pamphlets, video's and
many other visuals.
